LDA Georgia Honors: Kristina Zuppan

Kristina ZuppanKristina Zuppan is placed in nomination by the State of Georgia Learning Disability Association in honor of her tireless service to students, families and adults with learning difficulties. Kristina not only fields all of the phone calls for the entire state, but has tremendous patience in answering questions and giving clear concise information. For many Georgia parents she is their savior. We know that she hears the same questions and stories over again, but her calm assurance helps each parent or adult know that we care. You will find her attending IEP meetings as an advocate, gently assuring and yet insisting that services be rendered. She carries our LDAG cell phone, but logs many hours on her own phone lines as well.

We never have an LDAG Board or staff meeting that she doesn’t attend. She is constantly available to do just one more thing. Through Kristina we are constantly kept up to date and aware of issues throughout the state that impact our adults and families. She is diligent in finding ways for our students to transition from High School to College. She is a mastermind of finding means to get them the assistive technology that is often the difference between success and failure. A parent singing her praises said it all: “I always wanted my baby to be able to go to college, and only with Kristina’s help did I have the guidance to find the way.” She is a wiz at making Vocational Rehabilitation toe the mark and work for our young adults. Kristina is an advocate, a friend and a passionate supporter of the Learning Disabled. We commend her for her tireless energy, never one to be negative and certainly does not know the true meaning of NO!

Kristina, we love you…..
